Winter Baseball Camps

From December – mid February

RBA South just completed its 10th Winter Camp where we’ve helped produce some of the best baseball players in the area. If you are looking for a “spring training” to prepare you for your upcoming season, then this is the program for you. Instruction, drill work, and live situation will be the focus of this program. We specialize in teaching the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching at Richmond Baseball Academy South through all of our programs. Specifically:

  • Hitting - We focus on the proper hitting fundamentals including how to hit the ball to all fields, hit for power, hit off-speed pitches and understanding situational hitting. Players will also be measured for bat speed and video taped to monitor progress.
  • Pitching - Our pitching instruction focuses on learning and applying proper mechanics with the goal of improving velocity, control and movement. Education on the need and methods of arm care and conditioning are also introduced and explained. Students are taught the mental part of pitching including visualization and pitch selection/sequences. Proper development of off-speed pitches is also a focus in these sessions.
  • Fielding - We teach the proper fielding fundamentals including how to field routine ground balls, charge plays, backhand, forehand, tags and double plays. Players are also schooled on developing better carry on their throws across the infield and making the proper decisions when making plays.
  • Catching - Focus is on the proper catching fundamentals including how to receive pitches in all situations, block balls, throw to bases, field bunts, block the plate, catch pop-ups and give signals. Other topics such as game pace, pitch calling, and controlling the game are also covered in our catching instruction.

This program begins in early December and ends in mid-February, right before most high school, little league, and club tryouts.

Classes will be limited to ensure a 4:1 player to coach ratio. We believe that we have assembled the best coaches in the area for our winter program. Our coaches have all played high school and college baseball, and have over 25 years of professional playing experience.
